The United States Attorney’s Office is hosting a Civil Rights Conference at 1:00 p.m. on April 30, 2012, at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls. United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson, Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Judy Shepard, President and Co-Founder of the Matthew Shepard Foundation, and others will meet to discuss a variety of topics dealing with civil rights. 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. U.S. Attorney Johnson will deliver remarks at an opening ceremony, 3:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. Breakout sessions on the following topics: Rights of Persons with 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. Breakout sessions on the following topics: Bullying and Discrimination in Schools and Police and the Community 5:30 p.m. Closing Ceremony NOTE: All media must present government-issued photo-I.D. (such as driver’s licence) as well as valid media credentials. Upon arrival, media should check in at the registration table outside the Belbas Theatre at the Washington Pavilion.
